What is there to see at Hyde Park?

Hyde Park encompasses 350 acres of green space including 400 trees and a large lake. Start your trail of the park’s landmarks with the Diana Memorial Fountain, a tranquil monument built to honour the late Princess of Wales made from 545 pieces of Cornish granite.

Other highlights include Speakers’ Corner, an historic site of public protest, speeches and debates once used by Karl Marx, George Orwell and Vladimir Lenin.

Sports fans can make use of the Hyde Park Tennis and Sports Centre, which includes football pitches, a putting green and a space for lawn bowls. There are also two horse riding stables in the park and opportunities for open-air swimming in the Serpentine Lido.

Take little ones to the Hyde Park Playground to enjoy the swings and climbing frames, or simply enjoy the more peaceful surroundings of the beautiful Rose Garden.

Throughout the year, Hyde Park is used for several festivals and large-scale events including Winter Wonderland, which features an ice rink, giant observation wheel and other winter-themed activities.

How long does it take to go around Hyde Park?

Hyde Park covers 350 acres – that's a lot to walk around on foot! Depending on which part of the park you want to prioritise visiting, it’s best to allow two to three hours for your visit. Consider stopping for lunch at one of the park’s cafés or bring your own picnic to enjoy in a sunny spot.

Can you eat and drink in Hyde Park?

Hyde Park has two large cafes and a number of small kiosks.

Take a seat by the water at the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen, where you can enjoy a variety of pizzas, sandwiches, salads and cakes. Or, refuel at The Serpentine Lido Café. Along with a full menu of lunchtime meals and small snacks, you’ll find a selection of teas, coffees and alcoholic drinks on offer.

Are there bookable activities in Hyde Park?

Royal Parks puts on regular public events in Hyde Park – most of the events are ticketed and need to be booked in advance. These include tours of the park’s hidden spots (such as a pet cemetery) and bird spotting events.

Is Hyde Park free to visit?

Hyde Park is free to enter. However, you’ll need to pay to use the facilities at the Hyde Park Tennis and Sports Centre.

Events like Winter Wonderland normally charge and require pre-booking of tickets.

Walking tours and wildlife walks are normally not free and need to be booked in advance.

Where is Hyde Park?

Hyde Park is in west London. To the west, it joins up with Kensington Gardens. Its south-east corner meets Buckingham Palace Gardens and Green Park.

How do I get to Hyde Park?

Depending on which area of Hyde Park you want to visit, the closest Tube stations are Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly line), which is three minutes’ walk from Hyde Park Rose Garden, or Marble Arch (Central line), which is four minutes’ walk from Speakers’ Corner.

Alternatively, use Knightsbridge (Piccadilly line), which is four minutes’ walk from the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen.

Several bus routes stop close to Hyde Park on the north, south and east sides of the park.
